The Garden

The Garden: The garden space of 850 square meters was donated by our neighbor who is a dairy farmer. In this land of ancient volcanoes, the soil is very acidic and for two years we`ve been amending with lime and compost made from the house scraps, sheep manure, worms and lots of hand labor. The addition of chickens, and soon pigs, will add even more valuable nutrients to the soil. Bio diversity and permaculture techniques are being learned and adopted on the constantly evolving garden project. It is all fenced to prevent dogs, cats and rabbits from entering. Currently we collect 150 eggs per month. We trade for milk to make cheese. We will slaughter one pig per month for BBQ, sausage and trade.
